The Chair pose strengthens the quadriceps and balances knee and back muscles.
Tips to Prevent injury
Do not rush into this yoga posture. The deeper you go the more likely you are to injure your knees.
For the safest, and still effective, method stop before the knees are at a 90 degree angle.
The hands do not have to be placed above the head. Place them in prayer position if the shoulders or neck muscles strain.
It is more balanced on the knees when they are hip width apart.
