8 Limbs Of Yoga

The Eight limbs of yoga stemed from written text by Patañjali in the Yoga Sutras, which remains the basic roots and instruction of yoga, as a way of practice to attain perfection.

 


Yama - Moral observation and Behavior


When the practitioner is ready they take a vow to follow the rules of Yama.
This is called maha-vrata or ‘great vow’. The laws are as follows.

Ahimsa

Nonviolence and the practice of Compassion.

Concentration and the act of becoming one pointed in thought and undistracted .


Dhyana

Meditation is the art of learning to control the mind and quieten rising thoughts.
