Mantra Meditation

The art of meditation involves great focus and concentration. The nature of the mind is continual change so conflict arises. A meditation mantra is a small sentence or prayer that keeps the practitioner focused and aligned.

Simple Meditation Mantra for Inner Peace.

"Count each time a thought enters your mind. Say the word peace verbally and then count. Say the word peace nice and slow with calmness in the tone.

In the beginning you will be saying the small mantra many times especially when you first enter meditation but in time spaces will occur between the thoughts.

These spaces are moments of stillness. They will become longer as our ability to remain empty the mind improves.

A Mantra Prayer should be repeated every time a thought arises. Verbally in the beginning and almost continually but in time the mantra can be said internally if it has grown influential roots in the mind.

You may have better results in the beginning if you continually chant a meditation mantra prayer constantly.

The more practice that the practitioner of meditation does the less the mantra has to be said. It is a good measuring tool as well as a compass keeping us in the right direction.

In yoga the mantra is a  seed because it eventually causes the spirit to blossom. When the spirit is in its blossomed state we can practice meditation without tools or seeds.

Design your meditation mantra to serve a good purpose in improving your being.

If peace is the required effect then the mantra would be something like:

 Peace repeated or
An instrument of peace or
Let me become an instrument of peace or
I am an instrument of peace

Peace could be replaced with Love, Joy or light. Practice and see which words are most effective. Open your mind and allow your mantra to find you.

Practitioners often practice deep peaceful states and use breathing techniques that help Some are shown below.

If Joy, compassion and love were to be enhanced by an individual the mantra would be built around this. Choosing words that have the greatest effect in arising the states that we are trying to achieve.

The great meditation teacher Eknath Easwaran would say, "choosing many mantras and changing them continually can be like digging holes for water but stopping and starting somewhere else before water is found."

Allow a mantra to take roots and grow as it will gain strength with age with practice."
