Each time you do Cobra pose you may want to do it a little higher. Be careful not to push too hard though.
When you have a lower back injury that is very sensitive yoga exercises often aggravate it. Treat your back like you would treat a new born baby. With delicacy and care.
If the legs are closed the tailbone is forced upwards. This causes more compression so you may want to leave the legs relaxed and open.
